Do Not Let the Myths of Exercise Discourage You
If you do not know it, exercise is beneficial to all who do it. It keeps your heart strong, your weight down and helps you keep mentally sane.
People try to play on our emotions with these basic things that exercise brings to the human body. The ones that do this are either trying to get us to buy something from an infomercial or just have it wrong.
Here are a few things that these people try to convince us of that are not true. Just because they want to sell us the newest device that will miraculously transform you into a statue of physical perfectness.
They will tell you that a person can target an area of the body that they wish to lose fat from. If you target a muscle group in that area of the body with exercise, it would seem that the fat in that area would be burned off. That would be false. The only way to get your body to get rid of fat is by using more calories than you take in. Fat will burn off, but not from a specific place in your body. It will burn off all over and very slowly. That is no excuse not to work on the areas of your body that you deem necessary.
You will increase your muscle mass in this area thus giving it a more defined look. Many people will tell you that you have to exercise every day or you are wasting your time. Getting a workout just a few times a week is good for you. Exercise has a good effect on lowering cholesterol, maintaining good blood pressure and keep your blood sugars in check. If you only get to exercise a couple times a week, you will not lose weight, but you will be healthier.
Just starting this routine a few times a week can lead to eventually doing it every day.
Training to get stronger will make your body look really gross like those body builders you see on TV. If that is what you want, it can certainly be achieved. But you can get stronger without getting a whole lot bigger.
If you follow a good program, your muscles will be more defined and you will get stronger. They will not get huge unless you spend countless hours lifting weights at increasing amounts every day.
This can be achieved by doing a few different things at only two times during the week.
If you stop exercising all that muscle you worked so hard to get will somehow turn into fat. That could not be further from reality. Muscle does not turn into fat. Muscle will shrink if it is not used. You will get some flabby stuff.
While exercising you are also increasing your metabolism. This helps burn calories throughout the day. When you stop exercising, your metabolism will slow down. This will burn less calories throughout the day. If you eat the same, you will take in more calories than you are burning leading to a weight gain.
Once you reach a certain age, you are just to old to exercise. That is a total bunch of crap. Your health will be poorer if you do not exercise. It is never to late to start. Just be sure you consult your doctor before embarking on any program that you thinking about starting. Do not let the untruths of exercise keep you from starting down the road of getting healthier.
