What You Know About Back Pain and What is the Risk of it?
Back of the body plays an important role in one’s day-to-day activities. Suffering from back pain is common in everyday at one time or the other which may occur due to various reasons. Mostly when there is no direct injury then the usual cause attributed is week back or weak abdomen muscles, poor/incorrect posture, improper or excessive training methods etc. The onset of back pain is frequently initiated by sudden forward/backward bending. Due to forward bending soft tissue injuries may occur whereas extension i.e.backward bending more often creates injuries to the bones. Also muscles of back, buttock and abdomen lie in the lumbar region to support the spinal cord.
Lumber region is the most flexible region in spine where maximum range of motions like frequent damaged and pain occurs. In lumber spinal stenosis, narrowing of one or more area of spinal cord occur that exerting pressure one the spinal cord. If shortened, these narrowing of muscles tends to throw the spine out of alignment. It leads to back pain. Also when hamstrings, hip and constricted back etc. torn or strained and damaged while serious accident, could lead to fractures of vertebra in lumbar spinal cord segment. In acute cases, back pain may be caused by numerous reasons: leg pain, weak muscles or foot pain, picking up some heavy objects MRI can shows the extent of damage to the disc and ligaments because diagnosis after the clinical examination can only be established.MRI is a costly test so in all back pain cases MRI is not needed. X-ray test can show the alignment of verterbs, disc’s spaces in back.
Regarding the fitness, yoga exercises for flexibility, strengthening exercises of the abdomen and back muscles can help much for decreasing the low back pain. But it is important to understand that exercises at one go is not a worst thing to do only to train stomach and low back muscles. Some specific and certain basic exercises should be initiated. Exercises enables the body to release endorphins (a chemical that presents the pain signals from reaching the brain). So physical therapy/exercise plays a vital role in the recovery of the low back pain. Exercises when decrease the pain, improve the body posture, flexibility and strengthen the muscles supporting the back. Mostly back pain is caused by lifting heavy weights. So it is necessary to maintain the back as vertical as possible while lifting an object from the floor. Also distance of the object should be as close as possible to the body. Remember your back should be straight and head up while lighting the load. It will facilitates painless lift.
Sometimes, Surgery is required as treatment when a dangerous injury happens or to remove Tumours from the spine.Surgery should be the last weapon to remove pain when other options have been exhausted. The prolonged sitting slouched in a chair could exert strain on the back results in back pain. Similarly after the prolonged periods when sitting up straight in one position you may undergoes the strain in the spinal cord which leads to back pain. While sitting, standing and laying down remember one thing that spinal cord needs to be straightened so that the head may remains balanced. There are many exercises while sitting, standing and laying down on the floor which are useful to decrease the pain. The main secret to successful treatment is to remain actual (to suppose as you are perfectly fine), avoid hard activities that could further aggravate pain. The pain many lead to grand scales if the muscle weakness and inflammation are not be controlled immediately because muscles are the main defence against gravity. Therefore it becomes important to strengthening the muscles with proper exercises. But exercises should be done according to the problem not in routine and those should be correct and done under proper guidance.Use of hot packs after a period of 48 hours is beneficial to relax the muscles. It will prevent or reduce back pain.
