So what is proper dieting? Let’s start by taking a quick look at what it isn’t. It isn’t taking a pill and continuing to eat whatever you like. It isn’t starving yourself and eating next to nothing. It also isn’t eating nothing but grapefruit or soup or any other one or two items diets. Instead, proper dieting is eating a balanced diet, drinking plenty of water and getting enough exercise so you are burning more calories than you take in on a daily basis.
You need to eat food from each of the five food groups on a regular basis. The key is to closely watch how much you eat from each group – and what choices you make within the food group. Each food group has choices and some are better than others to help you lose weight. Within the protein group, for example, fish and white meat chicken are your healthiest choices.

The "Caveman" diet is what it is often referred to. The theory of this diet can about when someone decided that cavemen used to eat much healthier than men from today; this is true. There were no McDonald drive-thru’s back then, no KFC chicken. They ate healthy and they ate what they could.
Of course, we should not go back to the caveman days just to maintain a healthy heart, but our ancestors have taught us so much about hunting and survival that we should appreciate and take what they have given us, in terms of knowledge, and run with it. We could easily still eat this way.

Many people follow vegetarian diet but there is no definite diet pattern. People who follow vegetarian diet are distinguished into following categories.

The vegans follow diets that include food only from plants like fruits vegetables, seeds, legumes, grains, and nuts. Semi vegetarians consume plant foods, eggs, dairy products, fish and chicken but exclude red meat.
Nutritional aspect of vegetarian diet
Vegetarian diets are either low or totally free from animal products. So they are low in saturated fats and cholesterol, and reduce the risk of obesity and many diseases like diabetes mellitus, blood pressure, certain types of cancer and coronary heart diseases. However there is a lack of certain minerals and vitamins in this type of diet for which one needs to properly and carefully plan the diet. If essential nutrients are included in the vegetarian diet then it can be made healthy and nutritionally good. However one should not include too much calories and saturated fat in the diet, otherwise it may have a negative effect on our health.

Summer is officially here. Finally you can pack away your jackets and get outside. Summer offers extras hours of daylight and with it the opportunity to spend even more time enjoying outdoor activities. For many, this means more time doing physical activities and playing sports. So, it’s important to remember the potential dangers that also come with exercising in hot conditions. As long as you know the dos and don’ts of working out in the heat, then you can fully take advantage of all the fun of summer.
What you should do:
- Drink plenty of fluids. It’s extremely important to stay hydrated. If you’re thirsty then you are already dehydrated; drink before you feel a need to. Be sure to drink throughout the day (stick to non-caffeinated beverages, preferably water). Also, drink 15-20 minutes before beginning your workout and every 15 minutes throughout the exercise.
